Recap
A well-deserved spa day!
At first the idea was to skip this year but in the end we realised how sad it would be to break the tradition. Instead we went for a compact version with only one night away fairly close to home. The morning was sunny and crisp when we met up at Västerviks GK for some warmup and an early lunch. We also welcomed David as a first-time participant, a great addition to the roster who claimed this was his first round of golf in 3 years.
The course turned out to be beautiful and in great condition as we continued with the first round. David impressed as underdogs often do in this tournament and managed to win the longest drive in his group on hole 5. Some warnings were awarded, mostly to Rasmus and Fredrik to no one's surprise, for throwing clubs and for exclaiming genital slang and a foul reference to “menopause” as part of an exchange with a group of middle-aged ladies.
After the round we headed for Gränsö Slott just a short drive away. We quickly got changed and headed straight for the outdoor pool overlooking the bay. The facilities were top class and with poolside beer service we really enjoyed ourselves. There was also time for some sauna, jacuzzi and a swim in the ocean. We ended the night with a great dinner at the castle.
Next morning we were back at the golf course for another round. Rasmus kept cool and secured the win with an impressive total of 36 points.
Despite only being away one night and playing the same course both rounds the tournament was a big success and most importantly the tradition lives on!
See you next year!
