Recap

A house by the water.

For the first time in CGI history we traded the hotels and golf resorts for an Airbnb! A cozy house by the water a few miles outside Eskilstuna, complete with a sauna, large patio and barbecue. For the first time we also stayed for 3 nights, arriving on Thursday, playing Friday–Saturday, and ending with a grand dinner Saturday night before heading back on Sunday morning. This new setup was much approved and will most likely make a comeback in the future.

The first round was played at Eskilstuna GK in weather more like what you'd find in early April. 10 degrees and heavy rain forced the players to use some willpower to make it back to the club house. The debutant Oscar impressed during the round but fell short at the end. A highlight was the last hole where we had the closest-to-pin contest, a par 3 over the water, overlooked by the club house patio where the first group could heckle the second one as they made their attempts to hit the green.

The second round was played at Strand GK. A course with a bit more ambition than the previous one and nice and welcoming facilities. The weather was better now even if the temperature was still a bit low for the season. Tony came out strong with an early birdie on the second hole, but out of nowhere Fredrik wins both closest and longest (probably the first points ever in these categories for him) and despite having to endure 3 gilligans on the 17th he manages to catch his first win.

The 5th edition of the tournament was thereby over, and at the closing dinner custom-made 5-year patches were awarded to the few players who had participated in all tournaments — a tradition that hopefully will continue going forward.
